Traditionally, the airport gate has not been great. Standard beam seating won’t fly with passengers much longer. Not with more comfortable, more personal options available. AGATI’s new Departures Seating is a first-of-its-kind design.

We haven’t just created a better way to wait. We’re making people forget they’re waiting in the first place. Never before have airports seen gate seating offset at an angle. This simple, yet impactful design shift enhances individual space.
We’ve turned public seating into a private sanctuary. A retreat from the hustle and bustle of travel. An escape from the crowded aisle ways. One where passengers can catch up on work. Or catch their breath. Shut their eyes. Or open a book. Find their focus. Or get lost in thought.
The most striking difference between beam seating and AGATI’s Departures Seating is the sense of personal space passengers feel.
Instead of being sandwiched between two strangers, the angled design positions passengers slightly behind or in front of each other. Instead of passengers making awkward eye contact across the aisle, the angled design redirects their gaze toward a window or open floor space.
Each chair is crafted with a curved hug back design that calms the limbic system – turning a delayed flight into a prolonged rest.
Instead of jockeying for a seat next to a charging station, individual outlets let passengers charge their devices while re-charging themselves.
Every passenger gets their own table and every table is a personal space buffer. No more bumping elbows with strangers, and the extra width creates a perfect place for setting luggage underneath.
Unlike the hard edges of most bench seating, every curve of our Departures Seating is just that – curved. Instead of cold, metal arms, we’ve upholstered every inch for a softer, warmer feel. And instead of a hard plastic seat, we’ve added extra soft foam for those extra long delays.
Our angled design creates more intentional sight lines. So instead of people making awkward eye contact with each other, they’re gazing out the window, daydreaming about their next destination.
Our angled design also creates pockets for traveling companions to lean in to what matters -time together while traveling. Passengers can choose to share the space with the person next to them.
The most striking evolution of our Departures Seating is its angled design. Instead of being sandwiched between two strangers, occupants are positioned slightly behind and in front of each other. This subtle separation gives passengers a sense of privacy.
Our straight seats still provide more personal space than traditional beam seating, but take up 19% less horizontal floor space than our angled seats.
Each configuration includes a starter section and an end section. You can customize the number of seats by adding or removing adder pieces until you have the perfect configuration for your individual floor plan.
Seating this nice attracts a crowd, so we designed our Departures Seating to handle the high-traffic – making long-term upkeep easier and cost-effective.
With industry leaders like AGATI setting the bar for what the gate experience can be, airports that evolve their gate seating will be the ones who really take off.
Because when passengers feel relaxed, when they feel comfortable …
