The Free Libraries of Philadelphia (FLP), James Keller and Agati worked together to create a central gathering space in five libraries. Instead of focusing on the larger library branch system, FLP wanted to embrace the immediate neighborhood and offer local gathering space. Together, they created the “Living Rooms” with booth seating on the inside and shelving on the outside.
This collaborative solution provides both a focal point and the functionality to create intimate gathering spaces to support the local neighborhoods. The system is all on casters so that the staff can move the pieces as needed. All units are also equipped with lighting and patron access to power. Kenyon College chose custom displays to bookend AGATI Nooks. We think it’s an elegant solution for a very efficient space plan. Clearly, the students are also enjoying the organized layout. Plus, these displays are on casters, so when this space needs a minor adjustment, moving the display will be a minor issue.
